In Sicily, the photovoltaic sector appears to be on the rise again. In fact, following the covid-19 pandemic, the region is experiencing a positive trend of residential solar panel installations. According to Otovo data, a major Norwegian company in the photovoltaic sector, a solar panel system in Sicily produces on average between 1,440 and 1,650 kWh per year for each kWp of panels installed. These are remarkable numbers if we consider that in Trentino Alto Adige (a region in the north of Italy) the average production ranges between 1,150-1,200 kWh or that in European cities like Amsterdam a photovoltaic system produces about 1000 kWh/kWp of energy each year.
Fabio Stefanini, managing director of Otovo Italy, Austria, and Switzerland, also said that the province of Agrigento "ranks first in terms of annual production, far surpassing Amsterdam, and the other regional capitals also seem to be following this growth trend."
These are the results of the Sicilian region's investments in the photovoltaic sector. In addition, there are excellent prospects for growth. For example, the first Italian agricultural energy community will soon be established in Ragusa. The project involves the installation of a 200 kW photovoltaic system and the development of a technological platform that will allow several farms in the area to use the clean energy produced by the plants. Furthermore, work has already begun between Palermo and Trapani on a 70 MW photovoltaic park that will produce an average of 1,400 GWh of clean energy per year.
There are many benefits of photovoltaic systems. By integrating storage systems, it is possible to store the energy produced and use it later, such as in the winter months when there is less sun exposure. In addition to this, it is possible to consider the on-site exchange service, offered by energy service providers, which allows excess energy to be fed into the grid.
All the initial solar panel systems by GreenView will be installed in Italy to take advantage of such high performance and effectiveness of solar production.
Exploit all the benefits that solar panels offer and empower the future with GreenView Energy.
