2023 is predicted to be a year of change for Italy with high expectations in the renewable energy sector. Pichetto Fratin, the head of the Ministry for the Environment and Energy Security, has indicated that the construction of solar and wind farms will be accelerated with new deals and deregulations. This is good news and means that Italy will hopefully be on track to reaching the decarbonisation goals set by the EU.

In 2022, 4 to 5 GW of new capacity was generated and 7 additional GW have already been planned for construction this year. Fratin reported that the goal is to reach 12 GW of new installed capacity each year to hit the 2050 net-zero requirements and solidify the country's energy independence.
Italy has also been incentivizing industries to transition to solar energy. One example is in the field of agriculture. A new program was launched by The Italian Ministry of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies to increase the installations of panels on roofs of buildings used for agricultural, livestock and agro-industrial purposes. This program has been granted 1.5 billion euros of incentives to support the construction of 375 MW of solar parks on these agricultural buildings. This program is set to run until June 30th of 2026.
It is promising to see the transition to renewable energies start to take off, especially solar power. Here at GreenView Energy, we support all of the initiatives taking place that aid in the transition to a greener, brighter future. We hope to be helping households and companies in Italy with the transition to solar soon, as well as providing a platform for viable, green investments. Empower the future with GreenView Energy.
