Facts and figures you should know
According to the European Union, each citizen in 2019 produced 6.800kg of CO2 and electricity was the main cause of this pollution.
Driven by higher energy demand in 2018, global energy-related CO2 emissions rose 1.7% to a historic high of 33.1 Gt CO2 (source: IEA).
According to Solar Bay each kWh of electricity produced with coal generates 1000-700g of CO2 equivalent, while each kWh of electricity produced with gas generates 400g of CO2 equivalent.
However, also a solar panel produces some CO2 in it's production proces, but a solar panel’s carbon footprint is roughly 20/25 times less than the carbon output of coal-powered electricity (roughly 40g of CO2 per kWh produced). This is why we have partnered with Reforestsaction.
According to the Arbor Day Foundation, in one year a mature tree will absorb more than 22kg of CO2. This is why for every solar panel sold we will also plant one tree.
On top of emitting CO2, coal-fired power plants in the United States also create 120 million tons of toxic waste each year.
According to DualSun, 94.7% of solar panels are totally recyclable. It also states that the solar panel recycling industry is very well-structured.
